That’s a very trusting bird you have. And a cute lil fella lol. You’ve done very well with him :-)

We have the SAME flock of demons, a Caique, 2 Greys and a Severe. I can’t get the Severe used to me..he loves my gf but if I walk around the house without glasses he goes crazy and tries to attack me. Severes are strange birds, I’m able to handle the greys and the caique and do as I please with them but the severe I can’t. I’ve read alot about greys being difficult but they were easy.

My gf has been watching your videos on your blog I believe. You have some funny videos.

@nickin11p It depends on what kind of parrot you have.

Rocky just celebrated his 22nd hatchday and we’re hoping to get him to at least 40. 20 years is definitely on the low side of lifespan estimate, especially if well cared for! Rocky was not well cared for during the first 19 years of his life, so we’re optimistic about getting him to 40, but his vet says it’s possible! Thanks for the comment.

Check this out and write your congressman, call once a day, w/e you have to do to get your voice heard so this H.R. 669 cannot be passed. It may pass as soon as April 23rd. So get your voice heard and protect your beloved pet!

They don’t really hang out much. I do watch them closely whenever they’re near each other to quickly intervene if anything happens. However, we got lucky in that Rocky is not bird-aggressive at all. His main focus is trying to get close to my husband!

Good luck with your birds :)

Rocky is an internet star!!. I have a severe and a grey as well. How did you get them to hang out together without attacking?

I have worked with 3 that have been surrendered to the rescue where I volunteer. They can be wonderful, but have more personality than their small stature would indicate! I’d recommend looking into clicker training which increases the bond you have with your bird. Also pay close attention to body language and you can pretty much avoid getting bit. If you get a baby, the adult personality will be very different, and don’t take it personally when that happens. Good luck!

hi thanks im thinking of getting a hahns macaw it will be ready around september time have you ever had contact with a hahns it very hard to find people who own mimi macaws thanks

He’s a severe macaw. If you decide to get one, please do a lot of research and talk to people with adult severes (ideally 10+ years old). They do not make good pets for most people and turn up frequently in rescue, broken by the substandard care they received from well-meaning people ill-equipped to deal with them. In his previous home, Rocky was not let out of his cage for over 6 years because of his attacks and bites to the humans. Babies are very different from adults.
